All the women have been victims of domestic violence and extreme hardship, but it mustn't define who they are. They are first and foremost mothers and community members, lucky to have found a safe place to live at the WFN shelter. Despite lacking in academic education, they are talented gardeners, cooks, seamstresses - and now photographers!
None of these participants had previously even held a digital camera! The images they have chosen (from hundreds) to exhibit reflect their everyday lives living at the shelter, with varied interests, trying to build a safe and positive future for their children.
